Just read what he said in the Cleburne paper. Words don't win games. I rather talk to someone a little more mature. If he stays in it he will learn.

Godley blasts Lone Oak, 62-20

LONE OAK — The Godley Wildcats took their unblemished 2-0 record on the road against the fifth-ranked Lone Oak Buffaloes on Friday night, but had to wait under Saturday afternoon to move to 3-0 with a 62-20 win.

The home loss was the Buffaloes' first since 2004.

Both teams sported high octane offenses and stingy defenses which had not given up a point between them in the first two games.

The Wildcat offense continued its rampage through non-district play as they led the Buffaloes 49-20 when play was halted early in the third quarter due to lightening and poor weather.

Godley got on the board first with a five-play opening drive capped by a 25-yard Riley Good run.

Lone Oak answered with a ten-play drive capped by a 23-yard scoring pass to Trenton Overly from Cooper Jones.

The Wildcats marched right back with a nine-play push ending on another 14-yard touchdown run from Good.

Lone Oak matched Godley again on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Jones to Hunter Cash with 2:22 left in the first period.

The second quarter belonged to the Wildcats as Landry Martinez scored on a 2-yard run to open the frame.

After forcing the Buffaloes to a three-and-out, Good hit Dylan Benge for a 55-yard touchdown pass with 6:56 left in the half.

The Buffaloes struck back on a 43-yard touchdown pass from Jones to Trenton Overly, but the two-point conversion failed and left the Buffaloes down, 28-20.

With 3:06 left in the half, Good hit Ty Young for an 83-yard scoring strike.

Young found the end zone again just over a minute later with a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown and the Wildcats went to the locker room with a 42-20 lead.

Martinez ending the scoring on Friday night with a 1-yard run up the middle with 9:09 to play in the third. Play was halted shortly after due to lightning, but resumed at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Wildcat head coach Randy Brawner said the win came down to who was mentally tougher in the end.

"I thought our kids gave more effort," Brawner said. "I told them tough people finish and that was all that needed to be said.

"We felt like we needed to finish it. If it hadn't had been the No. 5 ranked team in the state, we wouldn't have felt like we needed to, but since it was, we wanted to finish it."

Brawner says he feels the disparity in the final score could've been even bigger.

"We thought it should've been 62-7," Brawner said. "We had some stupid mental mistakes we made, and we helped them move the ball with several 15-yard penalties.

"We helped them out on their first two scores on third downs when we could've had some stops. We didn't feel like they were moving the ball."

After getting back to Godley at 2 a.m. Saturday morning, the Wildcats were forced to make another two-and-a-half hour journey back to Lone Oak to finish the job.

Despite the frenetic circumstances, Brawner said his team continues to improve no matter what's thrown at them.

"We've got some good skill kids," Brawner said. "They're pretty fast. Our offensive line is making progress from week to week and that's a good combination."

Godley amassed 615 yards of total offense on the night and churned out 433 rushing yards on 52 carries.

Running back Landry Martinez finished with 225 yards rushing on 27 carries.

With Boyd in town on Friday, Brawner said his team will need to fight to avoid a letdown to move to 4-0.

"My biggest fear is that we won't get up like we did," Brawner said. "We were really keyed up for this game and excited, but we'll see."

With eye-popping offensive numbers all over the stat sheet, Brawner said quarterback Riley Good deserves praise.

"I'm saying he was the key," Brawner said. "When we needed it, he went and got it."

Good finished with 390 total yards of offense and 208 yards rushing to go with his four total touchdowns.

This article? lol

whats wrong with it? expound please......

After reading Coach Randy Brawner's response in the blowout game and this is after the Wildcats made the completed 5ive+ hours round trip both days to Lone Oak, you at first get the idea that is was just a overzealous "freshman" response as
in we crushed your ranked team--nah nah. And you would think that it was just that, but as OldMan states,"I rather talk to someone a little more mature. If he stays in it he will learn." Guarantee you that Coach Randy Brawner's "quote" will remain w/Lone Oak until next year's rematch!!

Ok Al your gibberish has exceeded my patients. Godley is beating teams in Region II. When they meet a quality team it will be over promptly. Pilot Pt. will beat them. If something happens to PP and Godley meets region III…. Lord help his name sake, sing Amazing Grace…. Godley will need divine intervention to keep within sight of a real team. The big talking Lane Kiffin want-a-be will probably have an excuse. I have a sizeable potential wager to back up my bark. Let me know and we can quit talking.

I cant believe I had to log in to reply to this horrendous web site....OldMan you are a complete idiot....you do not have any football clout...I guess anyone that makes a site up is a guru on football....you know my name and our coaches name....you hide behind the screen name and pass judgement...me calling you an idiot is not a judgement call, its just fact...Coach was too nice in the article...it should have been 82-7.....dont bring divine intervention in to this...its a game...dont worry abouy coaches..remarks...humble yourself to the fact that this is your chance to get on a soapbox and use your "holier than thou" attitude....this site is a joke and you trying to be a "shock-jock" type of poster is a a big reason that this site will always be for lonely old men....papajohn....idiot II,...we are not going to travel 5 hours to play a team when there are others around here in our area...OOOOOhhh, Lone Oak might use his quotes as motivation...GIVE ME A BREAK...we beat their varsity by 42, the JV by 44 and his remarks are going to put them over the top against us? please! We had to travel 10 hours over two days in pouring rain to complete a game that was over the first nite....thank you dumb and dumber (oldman and papajohn)for enlightening us with great football IQ....you are truly "Football Einsteins"!
