In 1995 I watched Sealy take a lead into the finals minutes of the state championship game. The opposing team (Commerce) drove the down and scored to make it 21 to 20 with the PAT pending and a few seconds left. At that time ties after regulation ended in a Co-Championship. The coach went for two and Sealy stuffed the play. Sealy wins 21-20. Afterwards the coach stated some irrational cliché as an answer why. The coach won the state championship 3 years later when all of those boys were long gone.

Last Saturday I sat in Texas Stadium and watched as Euless Trinity manhandled Southlake Carroll. Within the shadows of his own goal facing 4th and long the Euless Trinity coach ran a trick play rather than punt away. The punter received the snap, faked to an end-around going from his left to the right and threw the ball to the right wide out who was immediately tackled for a loss. This gave SLC the ball on the 35-yard line with less the two minutes to go. SLC had scored only once during second half.

By the way the TE team moved to inside the 10 and inside 5 during the first half only to turn it over on two 4th and 3 situations. If you are wondering if they had a kicker, the TE kicker kicked the ball out of the end zone on all but one kick-off.

By the way these two episodes (at Commerce and E. Trinity) of lunacy was displayed by the same coach.
He is living proof that talent sometimes overcomes .... to win championships.

Idiotic crap...Carroll outstatted, outscored and outplayed Trinity on defense. If you had seen Carroll moving the ball in the 4th quarter, you'd have agreed with the Trinity Coach, one of the best in the State, when he preferred holding onto the ball rather than giving it to the Dragons. One of the great games in Texas High School history, witnessed by over 50,000. Too bad you were'nt one of them..you might have a little different perspective.
