Army Strong 1A Team of Week 2wo...
New Deal and Seagraves' Week 3 matchup was supposed to be a battle of top 25 powerhouses. But New Deal’s stout defense, which has now surrendered just 4 rushing yards all season, held the Seagraves Eagles to a paltry minus-12 rushing yards on the evening. Seagraves managed just 9 yards through the air, giving it just minus-3 yards for the game. |

Army Strong 1A Team of Week 4.
When Sunray faced off with the Clarendon Broncos this weekend, it needed to have one goal--hold the Clarendon offense in check. The Broncos had scored more points than any team in the state and were avering 55 points per game. But Sunray's defense held it to just one offensive touchdown in a 35-1 victory that proves the Bobcats are the real deal in district 1-1A. |

Army Strong 1A Team of Week 5.
One of the top defenses in 1A football made its case again this weekend, as Goldthwaite knocked off state-ranked Mart, a perennial contender, 21-17. Goldthwaite put the Panthers in a quick 14-0 hole, but then fell behind when Mart scored 17 unanswered into the fourth quarter. But Goldthwaite punched in a score with just more than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter to ends Mart’s chances at the big come-from-behind victory. |

Army Strong 1A Team of Week 6.
Munday’s 26-15 upset win over No. 4 Seymour was the stunner of the weekend. Munday, a state champion in 2007, fell on hard times in ’08 and struggled to a 5-5 finish with no playoff appearance. But ’09 has been much better, and Munday is out to a 5-1 start with its win over the Panthers. Munday’s offense rang up 299 rushing yards, but the defense was the key–it forced five turnovers, including two fumbles inside its five-yard line to seal the win. |

Army Strong 1A Team of Week 7even.....
When two defending state champions meet, you know it will be a great game. And when the two are in the same district, you know that the game has huge implications. Canadian emerged with a 35-28 win over 1-1A foe Stratford on Friday to avenge its only loss of 2008. Canadian improved to 2-0 in district play and 6-1 overall. |

Army Strong 1A Team of Week 10.
Petrolia's playoff hopes appeared slim Friday night, with the Pirates needing an upset of district champion Munday to reach the postseason. Petrolia's Roman Wilson kicked a 32-yard field goal as time expired to give his team a 28-25 victory. First-year coach Chris McWilliams took a Petrolia team that went 1-9 a year ago and turned them into a playoff team. Petrolia was only 1-4 in non-district play but won three District 9-1A games to finish the regular season 4-6 overall, 3-2 in district play. |

Army Strong 1A Team of Week 11.
Collinsville jumped all over second-ranked Quinlan Boles, taking a 21-0 lead in the game’s first four minutes and rolling to a convincing 56-21 victory. It was a huge upset win for Collinsville, which came into the game with a 5-5 record and was facing an undefeated Boles team. Collinsville’s defense came up big, forcing two first-quarter fumbles, and the special teams tackled the Boles punter after a bad snap. |
