Underrated all year, Prosper wins Div 1 3A State Championship over Waco La Vega. With blowout wins over a highly rated Celina team and a close win over Abilene Wylie Prosper won with a TOTAL team effort tonight!

La Vega coach, Willie Williams, admitted that his primary goal was to stop Hunter Nix. He felt if you stopped Nix...you stopped Prosper. Congratulations to La Vega! They almost shut down Nix. However, they forgot about Prosper's tailbacks in doing so....& got ate up in the second half.

Nix badly broke his finger in the 1st quarter. One tough kid! Prosper took a timeout & worked hard to reset what was thought to be a dislocated finger. Eventually,they taped the deformed finger together with a good one. He was unable to run the option left for the remainder of the night.

The La Vega defense focused on Nix the entire night. Eventually Prosper made adjustments in their scheme & opened up their tailbacks for quick hitting power runs. The Prosper line broke La Vega & buried them in the 4th.

Defense was outstanding all night....with the exception of one big pass play. A bunch of tough no-name kids! Held a stable of very athletic kids to minimal results. Chris Parr was truly intimidated by Prosper. It was a sight to see La Vega lay down.

Hunter Nix is almost a shoe-in for class 3A MVP as he lead this team all year. It was great to see this kid play & battle several times this year.

Hardly anyone respected this Prosper Team. Maybe they will finally move up in the rankings. They proved that they were the State Champs! Hope Celina wins State in Div. II. Congratulations to Prosper & their Fans!
