I traveled out west and watched the Bridgeport-Monahans game on Friday and the Liberty Hill-Sweetwater game on Saturday.
Monahans jumped to an early 28-7 lead and had a chance to make it 35-7 in the 3rd quarter when they were held on 4th and inches on the four yard line. Monahans had an outstanding O-line and a good QB. Their defense did a great job considering a sophomore and freshman were playing right side safety and corner due to injuries.
Bridgeport has a huge O-line that does a great job protecting their tiny QB. The QB is tiny and has a cannon arm. Bridgeport’s running game is solid and their passing game is outstanding. Their defensive side does not have the huge guys they have on offense but they do everything well. Number 20 is as good an OLB as you will find.
The Sweetwater-Liberty Hill game was very close until the 3rd quarter. Liberty Hill can throw the ball and they throw it well. They are methodical on offense and defense and seem to be a litter smaller and faster (overall speed) than last year.
